Questions about our Yurts?

What even is a yurt?!

Yurts are an ancient form of portable shelter. Ours utilize an updated classic structure with modern amenities.

What is glamping?

Glamour camping is a form of camping involving accommodations and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping. No need to walk outside to use the restroom facilities, you have your own private bathroom right inside the yurt!

It's hot in Texas, will we be uncomfortable?

Each yurt is equipped with its own air conditioner/heating unit! You will be comfortable during those hot summer nights.

What about those rare nights where it gets cold?

Each yurt is equipped with its own air conditioner/heating unit.  We have full bedding, blankets and space heaters but also recommend bringing sweatshirts and bundling up if you get cold easily.

If the weather drops below freezing, we will likely close the campground to winterize the yurts for everyone's comfort and safety. If you are booked during a night where the forecast is under 30 degrees, we will contact you to move dates.

How many people can stay in a yurt?

We have a 4 person occupancy per yurt. There are 2 queen beds in each yurt.  If you have 5 and traveling with small children we can make an exception, please contact us!  Fees will apply with additional people not approved beforehand.  For safety reasons, we can not allow air mattresses.

What about bathrooms?

Each yurt also has its own private bathroom! Shower, sink and toilet all included.

Do you allow pets?

As much as we love pups we unfortunately can't allow them on the property since there are multiple shared spaces. If you need a place for your dog to stay, Rusty's Ruff Ruff Resort is about 10 minutes down the road in Blanco.

What if I want to book multiple yurts for an event or for a group?

You can! Check the website or contact us directly for availability! jenny@johnnyyurts.com

Can anyone stay at the yurts?

At least one person over the age of 21 must be present at all times in each yurt.

Is there wifi?

Yes!  Please keep in mind we're in the middle of the hill country so it can definitely be spotty.  We're working on an upgrade to improve consistency within the next few weeks!

What is the cooking situation?

Most of our guests prefer to eat out since we're 3 minutes from downtown Johnson City.  If you prefer to stay in, we have an induction cooktop and a toaster/oven combo with basic cooking tools.

How do we work the fire pits?

Our fire pits are wood burning.  We we recommend bringing fire wood, fire starter and some type of lighter to start.  If you forget these items, Lowe's grocery is a few minutes down the road!

Which yurt should I book?

Take a look at our site map, below! All yurts have the same layout, there are minor decorating differences.
